I have received product from Isle of Dogs in exchange for this post. All opinions stated within this post are my own.
As the winter months quickly approach us, you might be taking preventative measures to keep yourself healthy. Maybe you’ve had your flu shot, started a new vitamin regimen, or taken any chance you can get to get outside before it’s too cold. We know how important it is to keep ourselves healthy during the winter. Just like us, it’s also important to protect our pets and keep their health in top shape during the harsh winter months.
I’ve already shared tips on how to keep your pet healthy and happy during the Fall. So today I’m going to share a few ways you can keep a winter wellness routine for your pet. I was recently introduced to Isle of Dogs Nourish treats and supplements and made a few of their products part of Hunter’s winter wellness and everyday health routine.
Diet and nutrition
Hunter is an active dog and definitely has his fair share of energy to burn throughout the day. But when the wind is whipping and it’s so frigid outside, the last thing I want to do is play ball or go for a walk! It’s important for all of us to stay active during the winter. So even if we can’t get outside, we still make sure to get in plenty of playtime indoors!
Exercise is a given for staying healthy. Especially for dogs. It’s not only great for our bond, but keeps Hunter happy and strong. All of that great playtime deserves to be rewarded. That’s why we’ve been giving Hunter Pasture Raised Lamb Jerky Bites (also available in Grass-Fed Beef).
Hunter’s favorite snacks are definitely jerky style treats! These Jerky Bites are made with 90% meat making them a high-protein snack for your pup. They’re also grain-free, which is definitely a plus for Hunter’s sensitive diet!
We love that these Jerky Bites are made with natural ingredients like lamb, rosemary, and even mussels! The ingredients are sustainably sourced from farms in New Zealand making them a treat we can feel extra good about giving Hunter!
A good dental routine
We brush Hunter’s teeth to keep them strong and healthy, but he also gets a daily dental treat. They not only act as a brush as he chews them, but they keep his breath fresh for kisses.
Hunter is really great about his dental routine. We got him used to brushing when we brought him home. Now, he loves having his teeth brushed! It’s like an added treat. He also knows when it’s time for his daily dental treat and gets super excited about it!
Nourish Breath Dental Chews have become a great part of Hunter’s dental routine. The outside of the treat is grooved to act like a brush when he chews it. That exterior layer is made with Pecodent™ – it’s a blend of pecan shells, kelp, and tumeric extract that’s all beneficial for dental health and fresh breath. The inside layer is made for your dog’s overall dental health.
These treats are available in three different sizes and two other kinds like Hip and Joint and Skin + Coat. The dental chews are also grain-free and made with natural ingredients.
Skin and coat care
Hunter is a Cairn Terrier. His breed is prone to skin issues like allergies. Winter can be so drying, so it’s especially important to keep his skin and coat healthy and moisturized. We first noticed he had sensitive skin as a puppy. He would itch like crazy. Our vet recommended that we switch him to a grain-free diet. That’s definitely been a help! But it’s also been nice to have a supplement to add into his meals.
We’ve started adding the Daily Fix – Skin + Coat Formula with omegas 3 & 6 + biotin into Hunter’s meals. Fish oil is really good for dogs. It helps their skin and coat and aids in digestion. And based on the way Hunter licks his bowl good, it must taste pretty good, too! My husband recently told me that he’s even seen a noticeable change in Hunter’s skin and coat since we’ve been giving him this formula.
Daily Fix is available in two other formulas including Daily Fix – Calming Formula with valerian root + tryptophan and Daily Fix – Joint Formula with glucosamine + chondroitin.
These treats and supplements will be super beneficial to your pup whether you’re preparing them for winter or want to add to their daily health routine. They would also make great pet stocking stuffers for the holidays!
