We all know that sitting for a long period of time isn’t good for our bodies. When I get inspired to write, edit, design or schedule, it seems that nothing can pull me away from my computer screen. If you work at a desk for several hours each day, remember to keep moving throughout the day even if it’s in small increments.

SET A TIMER
Set a timer to go off every so often to remind you to get up from your computer chair. After a while, it will become routine and you may not even need the timer anymore!
TAKE BREAKS
Be sure to take breaks. Breaks not only allow you to get up and move, but let you refresh your mind and refocus.
GO FOR A WALK
Before you begin working take a walk around the neighborhood. The days are getting longer now, allowing for some nice evening strolls as well. Schedule a walk when the light is just right and use that time to take photographs. You’re working your body while getting some work done!
SET A SCHEDULE
Make a set work schedule for yourself including a lunch break. Use that time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air!
STRETCH
You know that tension you feel in your shoulders and back from sitting too long? Work it out by giving yourself a good stretch. Stand up, reach up and allow your body to move. You can even look into some desk yoga poses to do during the day.

Good posture and keeping healthy snacks on hand are also important things to remember. While restocking our snack drawer with healthier options, I was able to find everything I needed during a recent trip to Sam’s Club with my cousin. There’s quite a variety of health and wellness products to choose from including vitamins, supplements, sneakers and workout apparel to further inspire you to get out and move!

I was able to pick up some granola bars, trail mix and a big bottle of a berry smoothie drink to keep me fueled while working on my on-going list of daily projects. Buying in bulk is a great way to keep these products on hand and save money! My favorite healthy snack is Sam’s exclusive Daily Chef brand Tropical Fruit & Nut Blend trail mix. It satisfies those sweet and salty cravings and is a great, fruity pick-me-up in the afternoon. The salty peanut granola bars I picked up are individually wrapped, making it easy to grab one and go! And there’s no need to blend my smoothie drink – the work is done for me so I just have to fill a glass and enjoy!

Did you know that Sam’s Club also has a free Healthy Living Made Simple magazine available online? This online magazine contains some great information about health and wellness. Check out the featured articles Go Outside & Play and Take the Time. Both include some great tips on relaxing, recharging and, most of all, staying active and healthy!

Check out Sam’s Club’s exclusive brands including Daily Chef and Simply Right for affordable health and wellness products.
