A trip so epic it was deserving of two posts! Okay, it wasn’t really epic per se (and honestly I hate the overuse of the word “epic”). I simply took so many pictures that I decided to stretch each day into two posts so I could share more photos.

Upon entering Pennsylvania, my cousin and I made a stop at Cabela’s. The store trumps other outdoor sporting stores in size and offers an expansive selection of outdoor sporting goods and apparel. It also has monumental animal displays, a large aquarium, an amusement park style shooting gallery, fudge shop and restaurant. My husband would have a bigger field day in there than I did. My purchases included a couple gifts, a gun mug and “Save the Racks” breast cancer awareness t-shirt for myself. It’s the most clever breast cancer awareness design, in my opinion!
Our first stop in Lancaster was for pretzels at the Countryside Roadstand pretzel stand and gift shop. It is set in the middle of farmland with beautiful views of the countryside all around. When you’re in Amish country, it’s an absolute must to stop for pretzels and lemonade! The gift shop attached to the pretzel stand is filled with Amish baked goods and handmade gifts. I bought a Christmas scented candle for myself, some delicious goodies for home and an adorable handmade gift to put away for Christmas. Yes, I managed to do Christmas shopping on this trip!

We sat outside enjoying our pretzels and the most gorgeous Fall weather. Before we left, we took advantage of the price of pumpkins for sale. They started at only 50 cents a piece. I took home a small orange pumpkin and one little white pumpkin as well. We also shopped at Tanger Outlets. I bought a birthday gift and treated myself in Bath and Body Works. I bought a mercury glass owl and got a mini Black Pepper Bergamot candle free with a coupon.
We were staying at the Best Western Inn and decided to spend the rest of the evening in the hotel. We had dinner at the Olde Mill Restaurant. There is something on the menu to please everyone and there are a lot of traditional Lancaster meal options to choose from. I had a craving for something with gravy and went with a delicious turkey dinner served with macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, stuffing and sweet potato fries. It was like having a mini-Thanksgiving!

We then retired for the evening in our room, watching Duck Dynasty (hilarious!) and Nashville (OMG so good!) and listening to the sounds of horse and buggies going by.. We looked through brochures for area attractions and found a place to visit the next day.

It is so peaceful in Amish country. Just a couple hours away from home, it offers a nice escape from busy home life and sweet dreams while the horse and buggies go by. Look forward to day two of my trip tomorrow. We go exploring the countryside and find a little gem hidden in the middle of vast amounts of farmland!
