It’s officially slow cooker season once again! If you ask me though, it’s slow cooker season all year round! I love using my slow cooker when it’s too hot to turn on the oven during the summer. If I’m having a super busy day, it’s a great way to make sure dinner’s on the table on time without a lot of fuss. Of course, when it starts to get colder outside, I love using my slow cooker to make easy, belly-warming meals.
What’s more belly warming than a big bowl of meatballs? I love making meatballs in my slow cooker. The meatballs stay juicy and absorb all the flavors of the sauce you’re cooking them in. Meatballs are even great in soup, like this slow cooker Tuscan Meatball and Bean Soup I’ve made. Just like the recipe I’m sharing today, it’s freezer-friendly and enjoyed all season long!
Slow Cooker Asian-Inspired Meatballs Recipe
A hearty bowl of meatballs and Asian cuisine are two of my cold-weather favorites! We’ve recently discovered our new favorite way to combine both in the slow cooker.
This Slow Cooker Asian-Inspired Meatballs recipe starts with a couple bags of frozen meatballs. I definitely prefer homemade meatballs, but if you’re short on time, this is the way to go! The meatballs thaw out in the slow cooker, but stay nice and juicy as they cook.
I used turkey meatballs in this recipe. They’re low in fat and packed with protein. Of course, pork or beef meatballs would be just as delicious, especially when covered in an Asian-inspired sauce with bold flavor and a little kick!
Ingredients
- 2 12-oz bags of frozen meatballs (turkey or beef)
- 3/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1/3 cup Hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- Sesame seeds
- Chopped scallions
Instructions
- Add meatballs to a slow cooker.
- In a large bowl, mix sweet chili sauce, teriyaki sauce, and Hoisin sauce together.
- Stir in garlic powder and ground ginger until incorporated.
- Pour the sauce over the meatballs and stir to coat.
- Set slow cooker on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 4 hours.
- Serve meatballs with rice or noodles and top with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.

If the sweet chili sauce packs a little too much heat for your liking, substitute it with a sweet and sour style sauce instead. If you omit it completely, you’ll have teriyaki-style meatballs that are just as delicious!
These Slow Cooker Asian-Inspired Meatballs make an easy and delicious, one-pot weeknight meal and they’re perfect for tailgating too. For dinner, serve them with rice, noodles, or in a lettuce wrap for a fun low-carb meal option. If you’re hosting a tailgate party, just leave the slow cooker on warm and let your guests help themselves to a nice, hot meatball whenever they please!
