For as long as I can remember, summer weekends (and even some week nights) were spent out on the water on my father’s boat. So many fond summer memories have happened while fishing out on the bay. This year, my husband and I finally have a boat of our own! It’s definitely taken a little time and a lot of prep work to get the boat out for the first time. We’ve made sure that we have everything we need to keep ourselves safe while making new memories on the boat.
My husband got the boat out on the water for the first time last month. I have yet to go fishing, but the season goes well into September. There’s plenty of time left to enjoy being out on the water and I am well-prepared for when that time comes!
We’ve got the basics taken care of like life jackets, flares, and other necessities. But there are definitely other elements that can affect you while you’re enjoying a day out on the water. Having spent a lot of summer days on the boat, I know that it’s good to be prepared when you’re far from land.
Ever have a migraine when you’re stuck in the middle of the ocean? I have! Feel like your eyes are overly-sensitive and dry and there’s not a drop of relief in sight? Believe me, dealing with sea sickness, sunburn, a raging migraine, dry eyes, or any other type of discomfort is no picnic when you’re stuck on a boat!
So today I thought I’d share an easy “Boater’s Survival Kit.” This kit will keep you comfortable no matter what’s thrown at you while you’re out on the water, at an outdoor concert, hiking, or whatever way you’re spending the rest of your summer!
This DIY Boater’s Survival Kit can easily be tossed in a cosmetic bag, purse, or backpack to make sure every trip out on the water (or on land) is a pleasant one! Here’s what to pack:
