It’s no surprise that I’ve jumped on the bumblebee trend this year!  I’ve always had some kind of bumblebee decor in our yard during the summer.  But this year, our hive has certainly been buzzing!  I’ve added solar bee wind chimes and a bee doormat to the front and back of our house.  But the one thing that seemed to be missing was a wreath for our door.

There are a lot of cute bumblebee themed wreaths – mesh wreaths, wooden cut outs, and wire shaped bees.  What I couldn’t seem to find was a full, floral wreath with smaller bee accents.  Well, like anything I can’t seem to find I thought, “Guess I’ll have to make it myself!”

I grabbed a grapevine wreath to use as my base.  Then, I wanted to add a bunch of yellow and white flowers.  I bought yellow and white gerbera daisies and found sunflowers and some other yellow floral picks in my stash.  I also bought a couple eucalyptus picks to add some greenery, a buffalo check bow, and of course, some bumblebees!

How to Make a Bumblebee Wreath

Like the majority of wreaths that grace our door, I wanted to make my bumblebee wreath stand out from the street, but not look overly cluttered with flowers and accents.  So I arranged a mix of yellow and white flowers around the base of the wreath, making sure to leave room for my bow, and added the bumblebee picks last.

The first thing I like to do before heating up my glue gun is arrange everything around my wreath.  Once I had the flowers and greenery positioned, I started gluing the everything in place.

Remembering to save a little room for my bow, I then glued the bow in place.  Here’s a tip for you: when buying bows for your wreath, check the gift wrap aisle first!  This 10″ bow was way cheaper than one I’d find in the craft aisle!

The final touch was adding the bumblebees!  I took a few of the bees off the wires they were attached to and glued them onto flowers.  The other bees were placed around the inside of the wreath and I kind of bent the wire attachment to make it look like they were buzzing around.

I’m pretty happy with the way this wreath turned out!  It’s a cute addition to our front door that will probably stay up all summer!

SUPPLIES

STEPS

  1. Heat a hot glue gun.  While the glue gun is heating, arrange the flowers and greenery around the wreath.  Make sure to leave space to add the bow.
  2. Glue everything into place.  Then, add some of the bumblebees.  Glue some of the bees onto the flowers or glue some of the wire bee picks into the wreath to give them a “buzzing about” look.
  3. Then, hang your new wreath on your front door!

I love the pop of yellow in this wreath that’s broken up with pretty white daisies.  The buffalo check bow adds a farmhouse style touch and the bees, of course, are cute and trendy!
