Busy Day

September 25, 2012

Today was another busy day, but I’d rather be busy than bored on my couch watching TV.  And if you know me, you know that I basically can’t sit down and watch TV with full attention unless I’m sick.  Anyway, I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning.  That’s one bad thing about the weather cooling down–it makes my bedsheets that much lovelier to stay under in the morning!  But I made myself coffee and breakfast and got the day underway.

My first order of business was calling AAA to switch my membership to Mike’s name.  My fancy new car has roadside assistance of its own so I don’t need AAA anymore.  Once that was squared away, I took a drive to City Hall to talk to Officer D. about the hit and run incident.  We need to find out if the man who hit my car has insurance and if not, how we proceed to get him to pay for the damages.  Officer D. wasn’t in the office so I went to the bank instead then home again to Swiffer and vacuum.

By the time I was finished with that, I had to head to my mom and dad’s to pick up my sisters.  I was dropping one off at work and having lunch with the other, then taking her to her job interview.  We had lunch and then toyed around with my Sync system in the car.  Then it was time for the interview.  I dropped my sister off and did a little food shopping.  By the time I checked off only a few things off my list, I saw my sister coming towards me.  She smiled and gave me a thumbs up.  She got the job!  She’ll actually be working at the same grocery store as our other sister.  So convenient!

We checked out in our sister’s line, then I bought them both drinks at Dunkin Donuts.  We stopped at Bed, Bath & Beyond to make a return and I used my store credit for a box of coffee and some mustache push pins (for our sister).  After a stop at the liquor store, where I had to pretend my sister was my daughter in order to let her be in the store with me without ID, I dropped her off and headed to my cousin’s.

I brought a baggie of pumpkin donuts and a candle to my cousin, hung out for a little while and then went home.  I put groceries away and then started on dinner.  We had pork chops and potatoes tonight for dinner.  I chopped up a few small red potatoes and tossed them with olive oil and herbes de Provence.  I made my own shake and bake out of bread crumbs and Trader Joe’s 21 Seasoning Salute and baked both the chops and the potatoes at 425 for about 30-45 minutes.

As for tonight, I’m sipping a glass of Merlot and writing a friend.  I have a little running around to do tomorrow, but for the most part I plan on hanging out around the house doing some laundry and cleaning.

Also, No Doubt’s new album “Push and Shove” came out today.  It’s completely catchy and while I had a lot of fun listening to it in my car today (my car loves the bass!), I can’t wait to move to it tomorrow in the comfort of my own home!
