I abso-freaking-lutely love this time of year! The heatwave is over, the nights are getting cool enough to take out a heavier blanket, the other morning I put a hoodie on to walk the dog, and I can’t stop making Halloween projects. Some of you might be cringing over that last statement as you hold on to the last full week of Summer, but at least I didn’t say Christmas (although I will admit that I already made a few of those projects, too)!
This project came about when I was brainstorming what to do with my etching cream. I love the personalization etching cream can bring to a glass surface using just a stencil. Being that Halloween is largely connected with candy, I decided that an etched Halloween candy jar might be a fun little project. It was! In only a few steps, I transformed a mini candy jar into etched Halloween decor!
- Make sure the surface of your candy jar is clean and dry.
- Follow stencil instructions to apply the spooky eyed Halloween stencil to the surface of the candy jar.
- Apply a generous amount of etching cream with your brush.
- Wait 15 minutes, then fill jar with candy or other Halloween goodies!
I love that this jar can be used for so many things! I put a flameless candle in it to make a spooky luminary. Then, I wanted to see how it would look holding some creepy, plastic spiders. Of course, you can always use it for its original purpose and keep Halloween candy inside of it.
