Welcome to December! The holiday season is on and popping! Christmas will be here before we know it! This is the week that I usually try to get my holiday baking plans in order. I have a list of cookies that I would like to bake and turn into trays and tins for gifts and gatherings. And I’ve started stocking the house with chocolate morsels, an assortment of nuts, dried fruit, and baking essentials.
Sometimes I manage to bake my whole list of cookies and then some. Sometimes I manage to muster up just enough energy to whip up a few varieties made with premade cookie dough. But one thing’s for sure – I always include the family favorites! There’s the white chocolate cranberry bark, pistachio cookies, and a few classics like sugar cookies and chocolate chip. This year, I’ll have to include the whiskey caramels I made last year that were a total hit with the guys! It’s always fun to turn up the holiday tunes and turn our kitchen into a Christmas workshop!
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I turn dollar store trays into a mountain of cookie assortments complete with mini candy canes, chocolate candies, and a dusting of powdered sugar. Then, I wrap the trays up with a bow and bring them to our family gatherings (keeping a tin or two aside for our own home, of course)! Every once in a while, someone asks me how I made a cookie or candy. This year, I’ve come prepared!
