DIY 4th of July "Sparklers"

When I was thinking about projects for the 4th of July, I thought about fireworks, flags, red, white and blue staples and then I thought about sparklers. Those little sticks of fire and fancy that we all love!  So I decided to make a much safer version.  This fun little version of a sparkler works well as 4th of July decor, but would always be great for the little ones at 4th of July festivities!

SUPPLIES

STEPS

  1. Cut your dowel into three sections.  The dowel is so thin that a good pair of scissors would easily work to cut through.
  2. Next, cut your paper into three long strips.  Cut strips in half.   Fold a small edge at the bottom of your paper.  Peel the backing from your paper up to the edge crease and fold your sticky side of paper in half until it reaches the edge crease.  Smooth down.
  3. Cut fringe on the section you folded down.  Remove the rest of the backing from the paper.  Gently roll the edge on the top of your dowel.  Once secured, fan out the ends of your “sparkler.”

I hope I’ve explained this clearly enough!  But I think you’ll get the gist of it once you begin.  As always, measurements may vary depending on preference and materials.
