I wish I could take credit for this adorable Valentine idea, but I can’t. Studio DIY recently posted a DIY Bear Hug Valentine idea and I absolutely loved it! It’s such a cute idea that’s easy to make and a perfect gift for that guy who often stumps you with gift ideas. My husband and I are boring and don’t exchange for holidays anymore, but I’m still a sucker for him so I get him a little something every holiday. My husband has a major sweet tooth so it’s easy to give him a sugar fix for Valentine’s Day.
When I saw Studio DIY’s Bear Hug idea I immediately started brainstorming other animals to use for this project. My husband is a hunter so he gets a lot of deer-themed gifts. I found a little toy deer on Amazon for a few bucks (ha-ha!) and picked up a few candy items along the way.
- Plastic toy deer
- Liquid Gold Leaf
- Valentine’s Day candies
- Red gift bag (under $1)
- Alphabet stamps
- Black ink pad
- Stamp “Love you deer-ly!” on your red bag. Add hearts or other embellishments. Get creative!
- Paint your toy deer with the Liquid Gold Leaf and let dry.
- Pack your goodies in the gift bag and treat your sweetie!
This simple, thoughtful gift idea doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. Find the gift bag, liquid gold leaf, stamps and ink pad at the craft store. Make sure you bring your coupons! You may be able to find plastic animals at the dollar store. I haven’t checked, but I would imagine some dollar stores must carry these. The candies were $1 each (the gummies may have been a little over $1). Valentine’s Day candies are on sale everywhere now so it won’t be hard to find a good deal on sweets. You don’t have to get fancy with the confetti like I did, but I loved the fun varieties The Confetti Bar had to offer. Have fun with this! Make it your own. Because when it comes to gifts, it’s always the thought that counts!
