My husband and I took a trip to Pennsylvania a couple weekends ago to go to Cabela’s. We had a two hour drive and plenty to talk about. I figured it was as good a time as any to tell my husband about the new business venture I had gotten myself into. “So I did something last night.” Probably not the best way to start a conversation with the man you love. “I’m now an essential oil distributor.” It was like my husband knew this moment was going to come. I have become rather “oily” the past year. He’s even taken a slight interest in diffusing oils.
It happened almost by accident. I swore I would never take on another thing besides blogging ever again. Well….I was on the Young Living website searching for more Thieves oil and browsing pet products for Hunter. A friend of mine, who is a distributor, had mentioned how great of a deal the Premium Starter Kit was on her business page. You get 11 essential oils, a gorgeous Desert Mist Diffuser, samples of Thieves cleaner and Ningxia Red, literature, and more! So I did it. I got the starter kit and became a member.
Now, here’s the thing – my blog is my first priority. I’m not going anywhere! But if opportunity knocks, I’m always going to answer! So here we are, Young Living Independent Distributor #10487866. There’s no pressure on myself to do this either. I closed down my Etsy shop and split ways with Darby Smart a few years ago after taking on too much. Was I bummed things didn’t work out? Definitely. But when I take on too many things at once, I get super overwhelmed and drive everyone (well, maybe just my husband and myself) crazy! No bueno!
But this feels different. Maybe it’s the no pressure thing, or maybe it’s the fact that it’s more of an education for me than a “you must sell, sell, sell,” situation. I’ve really learned a lot about essential oil usage over the past year. But man! There is so much more to explore when it comes to these little bottle of awesomeness! I had never heard of half of the oils on the Young Living website before I really started digging deep into their product list! Now, I have a pretty big wishlist of oils that I want to add to my ever-growing collection!
Before I joined Young Living as a member, I had planned on sharing a couple essential oil related blog posts. This being one of them. So today, I’m sharing my go-to essential oil blends. These are the blends that I’m constantly adding to my diffuser.
But before I get to my favorite diffuser blends, I want to share some of my go-to essential oils. These are the oils that I would recommend newbies to add to their collection first. If you’re shopping through Young Living, note that there are essential oils and then there are Vitality™ essential oils.
The Vitality™ essential oils can basically do it all. They can be diffused, used topically, but most of all, they can be taken as a dietary supplement. Think of them almost like an extract that you can use in cooking, as a flavoring for water, or tea. The other essential oils are just for use topically (make sure you use a carrier oil, as well) or in a diffuser.
- Lemon- Its clean, uplifting scent will instantly boost your mood
- Lavender – It’s the OG of calming essential oils
- Eucalyptus – Makes your home feel like a spa day, but it’s also a nice, soothing essential oil
- Lime – Another bright, clean, mood boosting scent
- Peppermint – Makes you feel energized and refreshed
- Thieves – The #1 essential oil I recommend to new YL customers. It’s a spicy essential oil that can pretty much do it all!
- Grapefruit – One of my favorite citrus scents that promotes happiness
- Orange – The ultimate mood booster that will also make your home smell incredibly fresh and clean
A lot of these oils can be used in my favorite blends. The blends I’m sharing below are some of my favorites that I use all the time in my diffuser. Read on and let me know which one is your favorite in the comments!

That diffuser is really pretty!
Isn’t it? You should see all of the color settings!
Lemon/lavender/peppermint is my favorite blend, especially during allergy season!
Yes! That’s a great blend for allergy relief!
I picked up that set too! I love your diffuser though. I’m not a huge fan of the way my diffuser looks so I put it away a lot. I’ve been meaning to get a new one!
It’s such a great set! And this is probably the prettiest diffuser I’ve owned (I’ve been through a few cheapies already)! It really throws the scent of the oils, too. I totally recommend it!
I’ve heard a lot about Thieves! I hope to work in EO more but I also read a lot of conflicting info about what’s safe to have around my cats.
Thieves is a miracle oil! Seriously! But it’s definitely important to keep your fur babies safe!
Saving this!! Love my oils! <3
I hope you enjoy these diffuser blends as much as I do! 🙂
That diffuser looks great, it would fit into a bunch of different home decor!
It’s so pretty! And, yes, it would really fit into anyone’s home decor style!
I really need a diffuser!
I highly recommend one. They’re all around safer than candles and there are so many benefits to diffusing oils!
Loving the look of that diffuser!
It’s so gorgeous!
Saving this so I know what oils do what! Lavender is the one I use the most, especially at night! Good luck on your new adventure!
Thanks you! I hope some of these blends are beneficial for you! I definitely keep lavender by my bedside. It’s so relaxing!
This made me want to move my diffuser into my office! I need to make up a good blend for productive relaxation!
I have the diffuser from this post in my living room and use it to unwind at night. I have another in my office that totally helps!
I’ve heard so many great things about Thieves! I think I’m going to have to check it out. And I LOVE that diffuser.
Definitely check out Thieves and the diffuser! So worth it!
