Make your holiday season sparkle with this trendy, but minimal Eucalyptus and Rose Gold Holiday Wreath. It’s subtle enough to keep on your door all winter long!
For most people, the day after Thanksgiving is a day to score deals on big items. For me, it’s the day that officially kicks off Christmastime. It’s a personal tradition of mine to put our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving. The rule is that until Santa makes his appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, the Christmas decorations have to stay put in the attic.
This year, however, I let a little of that holiday cheer slip in by hanging up a new DIY wreath on our door. Basically, it was too pretty to have to wait to officially hang it for the holidays! I couldn’t let the holidays slip by without making another wreath! A couple weekends ago, I was browsing the Hearth & Hand holiday collection at Target. I found a eucalyptus wreath accented with pine cones. I loved the simplicity of it. It was cheerful, but didn’t scream “Merry Christmas!”
As pretty as the wreath is, I knew I could make one for a lot cheaper. So I hit up the craft store and spent less than $20 on supplies! That’s half of what I would have spent on the Hearth & Hand wreath. Plus, I got to add a little more holiday glitz to my wreath! It started off with eucalyptus stems and some Christmas pine cones. But then, I started browsing the Christmas picks and grabbed some rose gold accents to give this wreath that holiday sparkle!
With the previous wreaths I’ve made, I only decorated half of the wreath. This time, I’m filled up the whole thing! As always, it’s best to start by planning out your wreath. So I took the bunches of eucalyptus leaves off of the stem and placed them around the wreath first. Then, I removed the rose gold glitter leaves from their stems and added those next. After that, I filled in the gaps with snow-covered eucalyptus and pine cones.
SUPPLIES
- 18″ grapevine wreath
- Silver dollar eucalyptus stem
- Snowy eucalyptus stem
- 3 – rose gold glitter leaves
- Pine cones
- Wire cutters
- Hot glue gun + gluesticks
STEPS
- Start by removing the bunches of eucalyptus leaves from the stems, as well as the rose gold glitter leaves. Clip the snowy eucalyptus stems into individual branches. Then, preheat your hot glue gun.
- Begin positioning the eucalyptus leaves around the wreath. Glue into place.
- Follow with the rose gold glitter leaves.
- Fill in the gaps with the snowy eucalyptus branches and pine cones.
- Allow the glue to dry completely and hang!
Note: if you can’t find snowy eucalyptus stems (I found mine at Michael’s), spray eucalyptus stems with an artificial snow spray!
I’ve made a lot of wreaths this year, but this might end up being my favorite! I’m loving trendy eucalyptus in place of more seasonal greenery like pine branches, as well as the glittery touch of rose gold. This wreath is a subtle nod to the holidays that I’ll be keeping up all winter long!
