The weather was unseasonably cool here in New Jersey last week.  I must admit that I didn’t mind it one bit! Although it was weird to pull on a hoodie in the middle of summer, I’m so ready for fall! Besides hoodies, Uggs, and pumpkin everything, I really can’t wait to go hiking in the woods again.  We love hiking in the woods during the fall because it’s just so colorful and peaceful.  It gives us a chance to spend some quality time together and immerse ourselves in nature.

I always bring my camera on these hiking adventures because there’s always so much fall splendor to capture! Every year I ask myself, “How many picture of fall foliage does one person need?”  The answer, apparently, is “as many as I can get!”  Every year I seem to take even more pictures of the changing leaves than the last. They’re just too beautiful not to!

Besides the leaves, I usually manage to sneak in a photo or two of my husband.  Some of my favorite pictures of him are candid photos we’ve taken on our hikes.  The surrounding colors of the changing leaves are a perfect backdrop.  My excitement for fall’s arrival had me looking through some of our fall photos from last year.  I found one of my husband and Hunter that I just had to frame!

Recently, on Pinterest, I found a stunning floral makeup mirror.  The lighted mirror was surrounded with faux pink and purple peonies.  The mirror’s frame of peonies inspired me to make a floral picture frame for fall. Michael’s has a great selection of fall florals right now.  I am loving the pretty pastels that are out this season! They’re soft and romantic, but still pair really well with creamy and golden fall colors.

While I was at the craft store, I bought a couple bundles of fall flowers that were on sale.  I picked up a couple smaller bundles of maple leaves and pumpkins, too.  Then, I headed to the picture frames where I found a barn wood frame with a great distressed finish.  The contrast between the frame and the soft florals gives this project a nice balance.

SUPPLIES

STEPS

  1. Use wire cutters to trim flowers, leaves, and mini pumpkins from their stems.
  2. Heat your glue gun.
  3. While the glue gun is heating up, begin arranging the flowers, leaves, and mini pumpkins on a corner of the picture frame.
  4. Begin gluing down leaves and build up the arrangement from there.
  5. Next, glue the flowers and finish by embellishing the frame with mini pumpkins.
  6. Add your favorite fall photo and display!

If you’re planning some hiking adventures of your own this fall, don’t forget to bring your camera!  You never know what special moments you’ll capture while wandering through the woods and admiring all of that gorgeous fall color!  I can’t wait to lace up my hiking boots, pack my bag, and get back out there again!
