Fur Mama Moments

We take being fur parents very seriously.  After all, our only child has four paws!  Hunter has done so much for our relationship during the six months he’s been home with us.  He’s definitely made us better people.  He’s made me a more patience and forgiving person and brings so much laughter and enjoyment to our day!

The other day, after taking Hunter for his daily walk, I had to laugh as I stuck my hands in my coat pockets.  I proceeded to pull out a poop bag and a container of treats.  I got home from my parents’ house the other day and proceeded to unload a bag with Hunter’s food dish, a container of treats, a poop bag, and his leash (someone really needs to make a diaper bag for fur mamas).  This made me think about all the funny little things that have changed in my life since we got Hunter.

You Know You’re a Fur Mama When…

  1.  Most other moms you know have car seats in the backseat of their car.  But you keep a dog car seat cover and seatbelt harness in there for car rides.
  2. You keep treats in the glove compartment of your car so your dog can be rewarded anytime you’re away from home.
  3. Weekend mornings were meant for staying in bed and snuggling with your husband.  Now, you go get the dog and bring him in bed with you.
  4. You definitely work so your dog can have a better life.  The proof is in the amount of toys the dog has littering the floor, his toy box, and a crate up in the attic.
  5. Your dog is the best workout buddy you’ve ever had and look forward to your morning walks, no matter how frigid it is outside!
  6. You take your dog for play dates at your parents’ house so he can hang with his buddies, another Cairn Terrier and a Bichon Frise.
  7. You tell your husband you’ll probably cry the morning you drop the dog off to get neutered like a mother who drops her kid off at school for the first time.
  8. The neighbors are smitten with your pup and spoil him with love (and toys, too!).
  9. Now, you can’t imagine your home without a dog.
  10. You get really excited for your dog’s monthly subscription box to arrive at your doorstep.
