Girls Night Out in Westfield

October 20, 2012

This past Thursday I went to Girls Night Out in Downtown Westfield with my cousin.  It’s a town sponsored event with lots of participating vendors that stay open later, offer discounts, refreshments and a great evening out for women of all ages.  Registration is free and upon check-in, each guest receives a little welcome gift.  This event’s gift was a goodie bag from the Savory Spice Shop.  It included a package of their Canela Spiced Hot Chocolate and Chai Spices.  I haven’t tried the hot chocolate yet, but I have had their chai spices before and it makes a great pot of tea!  Certain vendor tables were set up in the check-in location to pick up all sorts of free goodies like water bottles, drawstring bags, candles and more.

We decided on dinner at Jeffrey’s of Westfield.  For GNO, they offered half-price appetizers and $5 Autumn inspired cocktails.  Jeffrey’s was completely decorated for Halloween.  It was great and made for a very amusing dining atmosphere!

We both chose creamy pumpkin pie martinis, which were amazing!  The martini was like pumpkin pie in a creamy, adults only concoction. We split a choice of three appetizers for dinner.  We chose crab cake sliders, chicken fingers and buffalo French fries.  The crab cakes were tiny little bites of crabby goodness.  Their chicken fingers are delicious, served with a honey mustard dipping sauce we couldn’t get enough of.  The buffalo fries were fries tossed in a hot sauce and topped with crumbled bleu cheese.  I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to take the heat, but it was pleasantly spicy.

After dinner, we visited Bath Junkie for their 10% off 2 custom products promo.  I made a scrumptious body scrub in a pumpkin spice latte scent that makes my shower smell amazing when I use it.  Not to mention the way it makes my skin feel!  I also made a bottle of their shea butter lotion in an oatmeal, milk and honey and brown sugar scent that layers nicely over the scent of the body scrub.  That store is so much fun to visit!  You pick your product, mix your own scents, pick a color and watch the staff make your personalized bath product creations!

While checking out, I donated to their breast cancer awareness jar and got to try and win a free product or discount from a raffle drawing. Well, I lost the first time around so I donated another dollar and then won a free 2 oz. product on my next visit.  After Bath Junkie, we browsed a few more stores and ended our evening with a little grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s.  All in all a fun night out and a great way to support local business!
