The way the weather’s been in Jersey lately, I’m not too confident in our chances for a white Christmas. So this year, I’ll be dreaming about a red Christmas instead!  During my family’s Christmas gatherings, we all tend to fill our glasses with something a bit…cheerful.  This year, I have plans to make a pitcher (or two) of sangria. I love sangria, but it’s a drink I often forget about for gatherings.  Sure, it’s easy to uncork a bottle of wine and pour, but sangria is like a fruit-filled party in a glass!

Before this post, there was only one other time that I made homemade sangria.  A friend of mine was having a party and I was helping her get ready with food and drinks.  We put together a traditional red sangria made with brandy, triple sec, and fruit like apples and oranges.  IT. WAS. GOOD! Since the holidays are a big deal – especially food-wise – in my family, I didn’t want to load up this sangria recipe with lots of liquor.  Instead, I wanted it to taste like a light, refreshing, sparkling beverage with a twist.

To make this sangria, I swapped out the brandy and triple sec for cranberry juice and plain seltzer.  Instead of adding sliced oranges to the sangria, I added the juice of an orange.  Then, I added red and green apples and fresh cranberries to give this sangria its festive, holiday twist.  A sprig of rosemary finishes this sangria off.

I love using rosemary as a garnish this time of year since it resembles pine!  It makes this drink look even more like Christmas!  This sangria is fruity, festive, and easy enough to mix up so you won’t be stuck playing bartender during your holiday gathering!

So now that you’ve got a merry little drink to make for your holiday gathering, let’s talk about something sweet to nibble on!  My friends at FruitBouquets.com recently sent me their Sweet Christmas Wish™ Dipped Strawberries.  They were delicious!  Chocolate dipped strawberries get decorated with a festive red and green drizzle.  They’re sweet, juicy, and delicious with a glass of this holiday sangria.  Especially since the sangria has a nice balance of sweet and tart!

Now, I may be a little biased when it comes to Fruit Bouquets.  I mean, they’ve spoiled me pretty well in the past!  All of the arrangements I’ve received from them have always been gorgeous, fresh, and oh-so-tasty!  Their arrangements are perfect for parties.  Especially this time of year!  They have plenty of Christmas arrangements to choose from that would make a great hostess gift or look pretty on your holiday table!

As always, Fruit Bouquets guarantees same day delivery (with orders placed before 11AM)!  Of course, this time of year I would definitely recommend placing your order ahead of time to reserve your delivery date. Check out all Fruit Bouquet’s chocolate covered strawberries and holiday arrangements to bring to your next gathering!

I used to bring trays of Christmas cookies to my holiday gatherings, but these days, my desire to bake isn’t what it used to be.  A Fruit Bouquets arrangement is definitely a great option!  Make FruitBouquets.com your go-to for entertaining this holiday season and keep the celebration going with my Holiday Cranberry Apple Sparkling Sangria recipe!

I use to make a very simple sangria when I was trying to cut back on the amount of wine I drank. Your version is perfect for the holidays with all the flavorful fruit – looks nice too. Thanks for sharing with Fiesta Friday!

Jessica what a very festive looking drink. I love the idea of using rosemary as a garnish – I keep a bunch in a vase on the mantelpiece for a decoration, but I’m going to start putting it in drinks now! Thanks for sharing at Fiesta Friday – don’t forget to add your links so your readers can join the party too!
