I’ve mentioned before that I don’t always have the best eating habits. I try, but some days I’m so engrossed in my work that it’s hard to make time for a nutritious meal. Ideas are always swirling around in my mind. Whether I’m working on a project, buying supplies, scheduling content, crossing things off my to-do list or writing up a post, I’m lucky if I eat lunch at all some days. Terrible, I know!

One thing I’ve started to do differently during my work day is schedule a daily lunch break. This gives me an hour during the day to take time for myself and focus on eating a wholesome lunch. Make the most out of your lunch break with these tips!
1. STEP AWAY FROM YOUR DESK
One of my worst habits is eating at my desk. I’ve had this habit ever since I worked in a professional office and was often told, “Jess, go out for lunch!” I would use that time to catch up on personal business. By being at my desk, even with a meal in front of me, I gave coworkers the impression that I was still clocked in. If your computer’s still running during lunch break, chances are you’ll still be working, too. Your lunch break is given to you. Use it!
2. EAT & SAVOR
It’s always tempting to pull out the takeout menu or hit a drive-thru. Bring your lunch instead. It’ll save you money and also keep you from making unhealthy choices. I managed to get LEAN CUISINE® Marketplace Vermont White Cheddar Mac & Cheese made with organic pasta, Marketplace Comfort Chicken in Sweet BBQ Sauce (gluten-free), Marketplace Sweet Sriracha Braised Beef (protein packed), and Spicy Beef & Bean Enchiladas (gluten-free).
All of these meals have proved to be quite delicious and satisfying! I especially enjoyed the Sweet Sriracha Braised Beef and Spicy Beef & Bean Enchiladas. If you like your food with a little heat, these meals are the way to go!
3. USE YOUR TIME WISELY
While you’re away from your desk, use your break to run small errands. Have a post office or bank nearby? Those are tasks that won’t take long. You can continue to enjoy a good portion of your lunch break and you won’t have to worry about running around after work!
It’s easy to want to stay glued to your gadgets during a break, checking social media or playing games. Take the time to unplug. Enjoy the warm weather, read a book, or take a walk. LEAN CUISINE® meals are easy to warm up and take with you. Enjoy this time of year and eat outside!
5. TALK TO A FRIEND
If you must have a gadget in your hand, take the time to talk to a friend. If you know they take their lunch break the same time you do, meet up with them and talk face-to-face! It’ll definitely put you in a great mood for the rest of your day!
