Keep Calm and Holiday On Printable

This is the most wonderful time of the year!  But it can also be the most stressful.  Between keeping up with my blog, getting ready for the Thanksgiving festivities this week, finishing off my holiday shopping, and baking and prepping for Christmas, it can make me feel completely overwhelmed and crazy!  It doesn’t help when you haven’t been feeling well the past week either.

My husband likes to joke that all it took to cure my bad sleeping patterns was a puppy.  It’s true!  I used to have terrible insomnia, but my sleeping habits have been a lot better later. However, with so much to do this time of year, I find myself staying up later and later just to get things done.  Just when I got back to a full night’s sleep, I find myself waking up in the middle of the night again going over my to-do list for the next day.

Advil PM

I always like to start my week with a written list of things to do to try and keep myself organized and less stressed.  It’s especially important for me to keep lists during the holidays.  I’m not only tackling my everyday mun tasks, but those special holiday touches, as well.

So this year I decided to create a “Keep Calm and Holiday On” printable checklist to not only remind myself of things I need to get done, but also those things that allow me to enjoy the holiday season.  It’s always so important to me to pause to enjoy this time of year despite how much needs to be finished.

I have to say that even though this time of year is busy, things like holiday music and movies make the never ending to-do lists a little more tolerable. And when that first snow happens, you can bet I’ll drop everything and head outside.  Especially since it’ll be our puppy’s first snow, as well!  In order to keep your holiday stress at a minimum, here’s a list of things to “Keep Calm and Holiday On!”

MAKE A LIST

Making a list will save you from a ton of holiday stress!  I should know.  I have a list of presents to buy, which gets checked off each time I buy a present (this spreadsheet list also includes things like gift description, price, and place of purchase) and also a list of cookies to bake.  You can never go wrong with a list as long as you follow through with it!

LET SOMEBODY ELSE DO THE WORK FOR YOU

Thanksgiving is this Thursday and it snuck up on me so I didn’t have much time to plan.  We’re celebrating in two places, as usual, so that means twice the things to make and bake.  So this year I let someone else do some of the work for me and ordered a bunch of pies.  I actually got a really good deal and it saved me the stress of trying to work and celebrate the holiday at the same time.

DON’T FORGET TO ENJOY THE HOLIDAY

It’s okay to take a day off every once in a while.  Put your phone down.  Turn off the TV.  Enjoy your holiday gathering and the people around you. Celebrate the season with a great holiday movie or Christmas music.  It’s instant holiday cheer!

GET A GOOD NIGHT’S REST

Your body knows when it needs a rest.  I hate leaving loose ends, but there’s always tomorrow to get things done.  So for those nights when I have so much to do, seem to be overwhelmed and a little achy, I turn to Advil PM for a healing night’s sleep.
