It’s been a rough year for all of us, including our pets!  All of sudden, everyone is staying home.  Then, months later, everyone is leaving the house again.  During the summer, fireworks were going off just about every single night.  And if your dog is anything like ours, they were not amused!  In fact, many summer nights were spent in the bedroom, with the air conditioner on, and the radio volume turned up loud to try and calm poor Hunter’s nerves.

Now, the holiday season is upon us.  And while things are certainly different this year, there’s still some hustle and bustle happening – like increased street traffic and delivery people coming to the door to bring packages.  If you’re looking to naturally calm your dog’s anxiety this holiday season, here are a few tips to help you and your dog keep things calm and relaxed at home!

How to Keep Your Pet Calm During the Holidays

Don’t Change Their Normal Routine

There might be a lot more going on these days, but don’t change a thing in your pet’s routine! If they’re used to going out in the morning, continue to do so. Are they used to afternoon playtime? Make sure you make time for that.  Do they get groomed once a week?  Spend some time pampering your pet!

Any sudden changes in your pet’s routine could cause extra stress and anxiety.  Besides, keeping up with their normal routine means you get to spend some quality time together!

Keep Your Dog Occupied

Stressed pets can get themselves into trouble.  Anxiety can lead them to scratch, chew, and gnaw on things they’re not supposed to!  So make sure your pet stays occupied with lots of toys and treat puzzles!

Stay Active

One of the best things you can do for your pet is keep them active!  Not only does a game of fetch or a walk help you bond, it will also help keep your pet calm later on!  If you have a busy holiday schedule, you might want to work in a walk early on in the day.  That way, your pet will be relaxed and tuckered out afterwards!

Give Them Natural Calming Supplements

If your dog is still having trouble chilling out, you might want to introduce them to natural calming supplements. Hunter sounds the alarm every time a delivery truck comes down our block.  Plus, the fireworks haven’t stopped around here.  So we decided to try calming supplements from The Anxious Pet.

Keep the Peace with The Anxious Pet

The Anxious Pet makes veterinarian formulated, organic supplements for dogs and cats.  These supplements include calming chews, supplement bars, hemp oil, hip & joint support, as well as wellness kits and are made with natural ingredients.

We got two containers of Relax & Roll Soft Chews and some Relax & Roll Supplement Bars for Hunter.  Because of his size, it’s recommended that he gets 1/2 a chew once a day or 1 bar (but we’re starting little-by-little since the bars are a decent size).

Hunter’s not too picky about his treats, so I knew he’d be happy to try his new calming supplements. These natural supplements are a tasty peanut butter flavor that your dog will love!  And if your dog is a banana lover, like Hunter, they’ll really love the calming supplement bars!  They’re a peanut butter banana flavor!

Give your pet the gift of peace and calm in their holiday stocking with these calming supplements from The Anxious Pet! And check out their full line of pet supplements here!
