Let’s start the week with a nice, easy project. Shall we? It’s not that it’s been a tough weekend or anything. In all actuality, it was a really good weekend! I got to do some flower shopping, got out for a little bit with my husband Saturday night, and hit up a couple garage sales (I found some great stuff including a vintage chalkboard and a cute, rustic crate filled with milk bottles). However, my brain has been in blog overload mode again. I had a pretty large cleanup to do that took up a lot of my time. I almost didn’t think I’d have a post to share today until I remembered this project!
So today I’m sharing a super easy DIY that will only take up a little of your time, but leave you with a great, memory-filled display for your fridge! I have so many extra lids left from canning. Rather than tossing them in the trash, I decided to get crafty. This simple DIY will allow you to display photos, cards, whatever, and chalkboard messages in a creative, magnetic fashion.
To make photo magnets:
SUPPLIES
- Mason jar seals and lids
- E6000 glue
- Photographs, cards, postcards, etc.
- Mod Podge
- Foam brush
- 1/2″ round magnets
STEPS
- Make sure your seals and lids are clean if using old ones.
- Next, trace a circle around the image you would like to display using your seal as a stencil. Cut your photo out and set aside.
- Glue your seal onto the the lid with E6000. Allow glue to dry.
- Brush Mod Podge onto the inside of the lid. Then, paste your image onto the seal. Allow Mod Podge to dry.
- Brush a coat of Mod Podge onto the photo. Allow Mod Podge to dry.
- Use a dot of E6000 to adhere magnets to the back of your lids. Let dry before displaying.
To make chalkboard magnets:
SUPPLIES
- Mason jar seals and lids
- E6000 glue
- Chalkboard paint
- 1/2″ round magnets
STEPS
- Make sure your seals and lids are clean if using old ones.
- Next, paint the inside of the lid and seal with chalkboard paint. Let dry.
- Glue magnet rounds on the back of the lid.
- Write messages or draw pictures inside of the magnet using chalk or chalkboard markers and display.
