Introducing the newest member of our family, Cooper – my parents’ 8 week old Golden Retriever pup! Prepare for cuteness overload!
Our family got a little bigger over the weekend! Meet Cooper. He’s my parents’ new Golden Retriever puppy. He’s a healthy, happy, eight week old puppy. After my parents’ Cairn Terrier, Dusty, passed, Beau seemed sad and lonely. So they had been toying around with the idea of getting another dog. Beau is a 10 year old Bichon and still very puppy-like himself!
Over the weekend, my sister found Cooper and brought him home on Saturday. Beau-Beau’s still getting used to having a new buddy around. But Cooper’s definitely feeling right at home! I went to meet the new member of our family on Sunday. I went to his first vet visit with my sisters and mom. We came full circle. It was the same vet we all went together to say good-bye to Dusty. Definitely bittersweet, but Cooper’s already brought so much love and happiness into the family.
After the vet appointment and a thumbs up on his health, we took Cooper on his first trip to Petco (one of Hunter’s most favorite places!). Cooper’s going to be a chewer, for sure. So I bought a couple toys to preoccupy him and some training treats. I’ve been told that he’s doing really well with going outside to do his business. He seems like such a smart dog!
The entire family is smitten! My mom has always wanted a Golden Retriever, my father wanted to have a big dog again (I grew up with an Old English Sheepdog and a Newfoundland), and the rest of the family are suckers for a puppy!
Be prepared to see a lot of this fluffy face around the blog! Even if Beau’s not quite used to having another buddy around, I’m sure Hunter will be thrilled! I hope to introduce the two at the end of the week. Then, we’ll see what kind of trouble they get into together! Welcome to the dog park, Coop!
