Treat mom to a Mother’s Day Fruit and Cheese Board this year with one of the delicious edible Mother’s Day bouquets from FruitBouquets.com!
FruitBouquets.com was kind enough to send me a Butterfly Daisy Bouquet in exchange for this post. No other compensation has been received. The opinions stated within this post are 100% my own.
Mother’s Day is this coming weekend. Are you preparing to spoil your mom with lots of love and pampering? My siblings and I usually treat our mom to a homemade dinner and dessert Mother’s Day weekend. Everyone pitches in on the cooking and the clean up. Mom gets a nice, home cooked meal and a day to just relax and spend time with her kids. Then, my mom and I usually plan a weekend to go flower shopping at a large garden center as her gift.
This year, it’s going to be a little different. Mom is taking a well-deserved weekend off during Mother’s Day weekend and heading up to Boston for a baseball game. Since Mom won’t be around for Mother’s Day this year, I decided to start the celebration early this past weekend. Saturday afternoon, I went to my parents’ house and brought over the makings of a delicious fruit and cheese board.
My mom and I love snacking on cheese and olive trays when we get together. So I knew she would love a little afternoon fruit and cheese party! With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I made our afternoon extra special by sharing a fruit bouquet from FruitBouquets.com. It was the perfect pairing for the cheese, meats, and flatbread that I brought over!
If you want to treat your mom to a cheese board for Mother’s Day, there are a few things you should know about making a good cheese board. First, choose a theme. I decided to make a cheese board on the savory side to compliment the variety of fruit in the fruit bouquet.
Then, you’ll want a variety of flavors and textures on your board. I used a mix of hard and soft cheeses – some tangier and sharper than others. Then, I added a couple Italian meats that I know my mom likes and some dried fruit, as well. I pulled it all together with rosemary flatbread for a nice crunch.
Since we go flower shopping every year for Mother’s Day, I added Johnny Jump-Ups as an edible garnish. These flowers are in the pansy family, which are completely safe for consumption. I also added a few sprigs of lavender for another pretty touch.
When using edible flowers, do your research and make sure they’re from an organic source. You don’t want to worry about pesticides and other chemicals if you’re going to be consuming these petals (or even if they’re just a pretty garnish commingling with other food on your cheese board).
Here’s a breakdown of exactly what I added to my Mother’s Day fruit and cheese board:
- Wisconsin Sharp Cheddar
- Gorgonzola
- Mini Brie Bites
- Prosciutto
- Salami
- Dried Cranberries
- Dried Apricots
- Rosemary & Sea Salt Flatbread
- Johnny Jump-Ups
Other great cheese board options include:
- Mixed nuts
- Goat cheese
- Pear slices
- Fresh mozzarella
- Capocollo
- Mixed Greek olives
- Roasted red peppers
- Chive blossoms
- Basil blossoms
- Crusty Italian bread
The Butterfly Daisy Bouquet from FruitBouquets.com made a great addition to this fruit and cheese board. This bouquet was the perfect combination of fresh fruit and sweet milk chocolate. It includes fresh pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, strawberries, oranges, and grapes. There were also chocolate-covered pineapple butterflies and chocolate-covered green apple slices, which were so good!.
FruitBouquets.com guarantees same day delivery (with orders placed before 11AM)! Of course, it’s recommended to order ahead of time. So if you’re slacking on a Mother’s Day gift or want to give mom something other than flowers this year, FruitBouquets.com has you covered with a great variety of edible bouquets and other sweet treats for mom!
