As much as I love to sit around a big Thanksgiving feast with my family, I truly anticipate the day after Thanksgiving and not because of Black Friday sales. Today is the official start of the holiday season! I think today might be my most favorite day of the year. Regardless of the fact that stores have been shoving holiday commercials in our faces for months now, the day after Thanksgiving means lugging boxes down from the attic, setting out ornaments and ribbons on the carpet, putting up the tree and basking in the glow of the white lights. The house feels full of holiday spirit once the tree is up and decorations are out. I started decorating this morning once I brought down just about every Christmas storage box and decoration. I put decorations out around the house and cleaned up in between. I worked on the tree last and that took up most of the day. I went through my massive collection of ornaments and decided that this year the tree would be full of “snow and sparkle.” The tree is silver and white and looks so pretty lit up. Even my husband said he likes the way I decorated with white this year. One of my only colorful ornaments is my new ornament from the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Also new is an “Our 1st Christmas” personalized ornament and feather angel wings.
On a side note, I did partake in a little Black Friday shopping online. I shopped on Walmart.com and got my niece 2 pajama sets for only $8 and I got myself season 4 of Big Bang Theory for under $10! I prefer shopping online so I don’t have to deal with the crazies. I’m hoping to score some more deals on Cyber Monday.
