A few months ago, while walking through the organic aisle of the grocery store, I found a bag of pizza flavored mushroom crisps. I could have eaten the entire bag in one sitting. They were that good!
That bag is long gone now and, sadly, I haven’t been able to find those mushroom crisps in the store since.
Thankfully, I was able to figure out how to make my own mushroom crisps. All I needed to do it was baby bella mushrooms, olive oil, pizza seasoning, my oven, and about 30 minutes!
The mushrooms in the bag were pretty tiny and, although the ingredient list didn’t state what kind of mushrooms they were, they looked like baby bellas to me. Depending on the size crisp you want to make, you could use a bigger mushroom.
The mushrooms do shrink while they’re baking. So don’t be surprised when you pull the baking sheet out from the oven and think, “Where’d they go?” They’re supposed to look like that!
Pizza Flavored Mushroom Crisps
These mushrooms crisps are so easy to make and a great way to use up that container of mushrooms sitting in the fridge. You’re just three ingredients and 30 minutes away from a crispy, pizza flavored snack!
First, we’ve got to prepare our mushrooms. Slice them up, add them to a bowl, and toss them with olive oil and pizza seasoning. I used McCormick’s A Hint of Sea Salt Neapolitan Pizza Seasoning.
Now, we’re going to spread the mushrooms onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake the mushrooms in a 400 degree oven for 20-30 minutes or until they’re crispy.
Let the mushrooms cool completely before snacking (it’s kind of hard to do!). Store them in a container or baggie in a cool, dry place.
- 8 oz. baby bella mushrooms, cleaned and sliced thin
- 3-4 tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 tbsp. pizza seasoning
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees and prepare a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to a medium bowl and toss with olive oil and pizza seasoning.
- Spread the mushrooms evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the mushrooms for 20-30 minutes, or until crispy.
- Allow the mushrooms to cool. Then, store in a container in a cool, dry place.
These addictive little Pizza Flavored Mushroom Crisps aren’t just a great snack! Use them to top soups, salads, or toss them into pasta!
