I love this time of year when you start to feel a sense of transition in the air. We begin to turn our attention back to school, back to work, and embrace the crisp, chill of Autumn. I must admit that there’s another reason why I enjoy this time of year so much. While the heat usually stays outdoors during Summer months, I enjoy bringing some of that heat back inside when Summer turns to Fall.
When it comes to our relationship, we have been together for eight years, married for three. My husband works a strenuous job with overtime hours. I spend most of my days buzzing around the house, working on post after post, and project after project. Because of busy work schedules, and the general responsibilities of adulthood exhausting us, there’s not always a lot of time left for romance and passion.
However, something magical happens in the Fall when the weather gets colder. Two words: BODY HEAT. Those cool, crisp Autumn nights are made for snuggling. That closeness shared between two people not only keeps each other warm, but can spark a whole different kind of heat!
In order to keep those fires burning all year ‘round, I recently decided to do a little reorganizing in my nightstand. The bottom drawer of my nightstand was a mess! It was full of small notes from my husband and other random knick-knacks. I decided to give that drawer a major overhaul and a greater purpose. I’ve since filled it with items to make it “romance ready” for intimate moments.
While romance can happen at any time, sometimes it’s nice to prepare for it. Need some ideas of what to keep in your nightstand? Here’s what I now keep in mine:
- Mints to keep me fresh for kissing
- Scented body spray and lotion to drive him wild!
- Rose petals for a romantic touch
- Scented flameless candles to enhance the mood
- A trinket box to keep notes and items my husband’s given me
- Two journals, in case passion turns poetic
