Sesame Chia Naan

Summer is made for salads!  We eat a lot of salad this time of year.  With so much fresh produce available, it’s easy to create a light salad to fill you up when you don’t feel like eating a heavy meal. When it comes to my perfect salad, there are three necessary ingredients: fresh veggies, cheese, and a flavorful dressing.

Even though salad is a healthy meal option, I’m a girl who loves her carbs!  Give me something to dip into the dressing in the bottom of my salad bowl and it’s a win!  Because it’s Summer, I’m trying not to eat too many carbs.  It’s sometimes hard to do, but I’ve been swapping out white bread for whole wheat bread when the craving hits.

I like to use different types of flatbread for so many things!  Within the last year or two, I’m come to really love naan.  Naan is a traditional leavened bread used in Indian cooking.  There are different varieties of naan, including whole wheat.  Naan is meant to be eaten with curries, but you’ll often see it used for gyros and pizzas, as well.  It’s perfect to dress up and eat with a salad for a quick lunch!

One of my new favorite ways to make naan is to brush it with olive oil, add some garlic, and a blend of sesame and chia seeds.  Warmed up in the oven and cut into strips, whole wheat naan makes fantastic breadsticks!  The sesame and chia seeds also add a little Mediterranean inspiration and a healthy crunch to this deliciously simple flatbread.

While I was grocery shopping at Wegman’s last week, I picked up a couple Ready Pac Bistro Bowl Salads to keep on hand for lunch.  I’m always looking for quick and easy lunch options since the afternoon is my busiest time of day.

Because I love Mediterranean flavors, I immediately grabbed the Greek Inspired Ready Pac Bistro Bowl Salad. It was delicious alongside my sesame chia naan! Of course, I saved a few pieces of naan to dip into the Greek inspired vinaigrette once I finished my salad!

Ready Pac Bistro Bowl Salads come in a wide range of appetizing options that are packaged in a handy bowl.  Each bowl contains greens, toppings, dressing, and a plastic fork so you can eat on-the-go.  The toppings are kept separate from the greens so everything stays extremely fresh until you open your salad bowl. These salads are super convenient for the busy mom, student, or workaholic blogger, like myself! You can find them in the refrigerator section of the produce aisle in Wegman’s.
