These 5 Easy Ways to Spring Clean Your Car will get your car ready to go for road trips and adventures during the warm months of Spring!
My car gets a lot of use this time of year. I love driving with the windows down and the music turned up! But before I head out on my springtime adventures, I want to make sure that my trusty vehicle is in top shape! Since I’ve been in spring cleaning mode this past month, I figured it was the perfect time to spring clean my car, as well. My husband and I are car people. We have cars we use for everyday driving and a dream-come-true car in the garage used for cruising during warm weekends. So that usually means during nice weekends, we’re outside cleaning our cars or doing maintenance on them.
The weather was sunny and beautiful the other day, so I took the opportunity to get outside and give my car a good spring cleaning! My car was pretty filthy after all of the snow we’ve had lately. The salt on the roads left my car pretty dirty. The inside of my car was a disaster from those days I went running in the park with Hunter and tracked in dirt, small pebbles, and grass. When you travel with a dog, you also tend to find lots of nose marks on the window. So I had my fair share of cleanup to do!
Add your car to your list of spring cleaning goals to achieve this year! These 5 Easy Ways to Spring Clean Your Car will help get your car into shape for all of your warm weather adventures!
Clean the interior and exterior
Washing the outside of your car is kind of a given. Right? But you want to make sure that the inside of your car gets a good cleaning, too! That means wiping down windows, cleaning the dashboard, and getting into all of those small spaces like air vents and cup holders.
Want to limit streaks on your car windows? Wipe them down on a cloudy day or park your car in a shady spot to clean them. I’ve also invested in soft, cleaning towels instead of bringing an entire roll of paper towels outside with me.
Change your oil
Are you due for an oil change? This might be a great time to check and, if necessary, change your oil, as well! My husband is due for an oil change soon, so we recently headed to Walmart to pick up Mobil 1™ Extended Performance motor oil. Did you know that Mobil 1™ synthetic oil protects more than just your engine? You can reduce oil consumption and oil waste with fewer oil changes.
Have you heard about ExxonMobil’s Walmart exclusive Earth Day Drive Away offer? Walmart customers have a chance to win a Chevy Equinox and receive their $10 Walmart Select Certificate at earthdaydriveaway.com that’s valid on a future Mobil 1™ purchase at Walmart! You can enter by purchasing 5 quarts of Mobil 1™ in the store or a Mobil 1™ oil change at the Auto Care Center, or by recycling any used oil at an Auto Care Center recycling any used oil at an Auto Care Center.
This offer is valid from January 15, 2018 – April 30, 2018. Limit 2 entries in the sweepstakes per customer (1 for purchasing and 1 for recycling). You can find more information about this sweepstakes here: Earth Day Drive Away Sweepstakes. Make sure you have your receipt handy to receive a $10 Walmart Select Certificate!
Give it a good vacuuming
When the weather warms up, you can find us heading down to the beach or to the park for a long walk. Those fun afternoons usually come with souvenirs of sand, dirt, and grass littering the car floor. Before you head out on those Spring adventures, give the car floor, mats, and seats a good cleanup! Make sure to vacuum areas like underneath the seats and the trunk of the car, too!
Toss the trash and tidy up
It’s a good practice to keep a litter bag in the car and empty it on a weekly basis if it’s full. Don’t have one? Now is a good time to invest in one! Since I travel with Hunter a lot, I also have a bag hanging off of the seat to keep some of his things handy (leash, waste bags, treats, etc.) and within reach. I’m sure something like this could come in handy for moms, too! The backseat is also covered with a car seat cover to keep my seats protected and easy to clean!
Make it smell amazing
The very last thing I do whenever I clean the car is open a new air freshener. Nothing makes a clean car feel complete like a fresh scent! I like to use these essential oil air fresheners in the car. I have one that hangs and one that clips onto my vent. All I do is add a few drops of essential oil to the felt pad and the car smells incredible!
Head outside on a nice day and get your car cleaned up for your springtime travels! Use the Oil Selector Tool to find the right ExxonMobil oil for your car. Then, head to Walmart to find it on the shelf in the auto care aisle. Walmart’s Auto Care Center is also a great place to have your oil changed.
I honestly had no idea that you could recycle your oil at any of Walmart’s Auto Care Centers. But now that I know this, I’ll be keeping this in mind during my next oil change. Since we just purchased ExxonMobil 1™ Extended Performance oil, I’ll definitely be entering the Earth Day Drive Away Sweepstakes, as well!
