About a month ago, I decided that I was going to attempt to create a minimalist lifestyle in our home. The holidays had just ended and the house felt beyond cluttered by decorations. As I packed everything away in the attic for another year, I realized how ready I was to clean up our house. Like really clean it up! So far, my journey into minimalism hasn’t been too difficult!
Since I decided to take on this task, I’ve managed to revision the way I want our home to look. Our house is small and less has definitely become more. I did my first overhaul in the attic and got rid of a bunch of things that no longer serve a purpose in our home. I’m sure there is still a lot more I can get rid of in our attic, but now I’m gearing up for a major Spring Cleaning session!
I think I’m looking forward to Spring Cleaning more than usual this year. 2018 is becoming a pretty big year for our house. Besides decluttering, my husband and I are planning to make a bunch of home updates starting in the spring. There’s a lot of “out with the old and in with the new” that’s going to happen, like repainting and replacing some of our old (like really old) furniture. So I want to make sure that our house is spotless before we paint and bring in any new furniture!
Even though we’ll be shelling out some dough for these home improvements, I’ve learned that minimalism can be quite the money saver in the long run! So I’m Spring Cleaning on a budget this year! You don’t have to spend a ton on cleaning supplies to get your house into shape. Also, certain cleaning supplies don’t have to be limited to one room. You can definitely make them stretch throughout the house!
With Spring Cleaning fresh on my mind, I went to Dollar General a few weeks ago and stocked up on essentials. I purchased Clorox® Clean-up® Cleaner with Bleach, Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes, Pine-Sol®, Sparkle® Paper Towels, and STAINMASTER® Carpet Pet Stain Remover.
Then, I made my game plan to tackle every room in our house with these cleaning products! Brands like Clorox, Georgia-Pacific, and Henkel have the perfect products to help me with my Spring Cleaning goals!
Buy Sparkle® Paper Towels in bulk
A six roll package of Sparkle® Paper Towels is not only economical, it’ll ensure that you have enough on hand to get all of your cleaning done! Plus, they come in such fun prints! I always keep at least one roll in the kitchen and bathroom for easy cleanups!
Tackle the bathroom and kitchen with Clorox® Clean-up® Cleaner with Bleach
I like keeping a bottle of Clorox® Clean-up® Cleaner with Bleach in my bathroom at all times. It’s a must-have for surfaces like the toilet and sink. Since our bathroom is really small, I also use it to wipe up the floor between mopping.
But the bathroom isn’t the only place to use this cleaner! It’s also great for disinfecting kitchen counters. If you’re like me, sometimes cooking gets messy. It’s nice to have a cleaner on hand that not only cleans up messes, but keeps surfaces germ-free, as well!
Keep Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes on hand for quick clean-ups
If you’re clumsy like me, then spills tend to happen more often than you would like. Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes are another cleaning product that’s always in our bathroom and kitchen. Just pop the top open, pull out a wipe, and get cleaning! They’re also great for quick, daily clean-ups like wiping down the bathroom sink.
Use Pine-Sol® for every floor in the house
We have wood floors in our house with tile in the bathroom and kitchen. Pine-Sol® works to clean up both! Just dilute Pine-Sol® in water and mop the floor. Don’t over-saturate the floor with the solution. Puddles can warp wood flooring.
Keep STAINMASTER® Carpet Pet Stain Remover handy for occasional pet accidents
Accidents happen. Especially if you’ve got a fur baby in the house! When your house has carpeting or a rug, if you’ve got a pet, STAINMASTER® Carpet Pet Stain Remover isn’t just a Spring Cleaning essential. It’s an all-year-round, just in case essential!
Go beyond the washing machine with Snuggle® Scent Boosters
Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh laundry? I recently discovered Snuggle® Scent Boosters. They’re perfect for keeping my winter clothes fresh when I put them away for the spring. These little scent pacs get tossed right into your load of wash and make your clothes smell amazing and ‘Snuggly Soft & Fresh!’!
If you’re like me and can’t get enough of the smell of Snuggle® Scent Boosters, tie a scent pac in an organza bag and stick it in a drawer of clothes or hang it up in your closet! It’ll give your spring wardrobe a boost of freshness without having to throw in a load of wash!
As a self-proclaimed clean freak, I’m so ready to open the windows, let that warm, spring air in, and put our cleaning products to good use! You don’t have to spend a fortune on different products to get your Spring Cleaning done. Get all of these essential Spring Cleaning brands at Dollar General!
If you don’t have a Dollar General near your home, you can still get all of your Spring Cleaning done on a budget. Visit the Dollar General website and save $5 when you spend $15!
