Thanksgiving Succulent Centerpiece + Tablescape

November 1, 2017

Create a trendy Thanksgiving tablescape made with golden, rustic touches, pumpkins, and a DIY Thanksgiving Succulent Centerpiece.

I was provided product samples free of charge from Oriental Trading in exchange for my honest opinion. No other compensation was provided for this post.

And so, the transition from the spooky Halloween season to Thanksgiving officially begins!  Can you believe it?  As much as I absolutely love Halloween, I couldn’t wait to pull some of my Thanksgiving decor out over the weekend.  The great thing about Thanksgiving decor is that you don’t have to put the pumpkins away after your Halloween festivities are over.  You can elegantly include them on your Thanksgiving table with other Fall elements.

Succulents are still one of the trendiest plants on the DIY scene.  But I’m pretty much banned from bringing anymore live succulents into the house.  Even though they’re a low maintenance plant, I continue to kill them.  Too much water?  Not enough light?  Who knows?  Thankfully, I was able to get a set of faux succulents from Oriental Trading to use in my Thanksgiving tablescape.

I knew that I wanted to keep my table simple and classic looking, yet hip enough for a Friendsgiving gathering. So the major focal point of this centerpiece is a gold geometric terrarium.  I set the terrarium on a wood print charger.  Then, I gathered a section of boxwood garland around the base of the terrarium.  I glued pine cones and acorns onto the garland.  Totally rustic, but still trendy!

With some of the metallic pumpkins, I pulled out the stem and pushed a faux succulent into the top.  I placed one of the succulent pumpkins inside of the terrarium.  Then, I surrounded the pumpkin with moss and acorns.  This centerpiece alone is so pretty!  But I decided to push further with my tablescape.

Before you pile on a hearty helping of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and gravy, sit down to a simple table setting with a succulent pumpkin on top. If you really want to wow your Thanksgiving guests, turn these pumpkins into place cards. Write your guests’ names on a small piece of cardstock and tie it onto the pumpkin with twine. Your guests will be able to take their pumpkin place card home along with some tasty leftovers!

With every gathering, you want to create a great atmosphere.  Play some holiday music (by Thanksgiving, it’s allowed!) and light some candles.  I love candles!  Even if I’m not lighting them, they still add warmth and charm to a room. So I pushed mini white taper candles into some of the metallic pumpkins.

You might need to cut a shallow candle-sized hole in the top of the pumpkin to start. Then, the candles can easily be pushed in securely.  To really keep them in place, add a drop of glue to the bottom before pushing the candle into the pumpkin.

I brought my table together by strategically placing succulent pumpkins and candles, pine cones, and gourds across the center.  Seriously – gold, pumpkins, and succulents are some of my favorite things!  With a clean, white background, this is a beautiful Thanksgiving Day tablescape!

There is still time to order everything you need to create your own Thanksgiving Succulent Centerpiece with supplies from Oriental Trading!  Hang on to the rest of the boxwood garland and pine cones!  We’ll be using them again later on in the month when we prepare for the holidays!

This really did turn out so lovely! We always shop Oriental Trading when we’re entertaining. I find some of the greatest items there. Right now my Ceramic Snowman Papertowel holder is the hit of the kitchen (bought from OT a few years ago). Everytime someone walks in the kitchen they gravitate right to it. 🙂
