This Summer has been one of our busiest ever with events, plans, and celebrations happening at least every other week! Our new niece was welcomed into the world a couple weeks ago. We didn’t get to visit her in the hospital, but I decided to take a day off last week to meet the newest addition to our family and spend some quality time with my other niece.
My brother and sister-in-law live about an hour away from me, but I honestly don’t mind the drive out to their house. Once you get passed the congested highways of Central Jersey and travel westward, the view changes from cluttered buildings and storefronts to peaceful views of countryside. They live in a really beautiful area filled with farmland. I even managed to take a trip to a farmer’s market during this visit to purchase some farm fresh goodies and admire their flowers!
I always like to leave my house between the end of morning rush hour and lunch time to get to my brother’s house at a decent time. By then, I’ve already had my breakfast early in the morning and won’t have lunch for another hour or two. Instead of dealing with a grumbling stomach on the drive out, I decided to pack a road trip snack with me. I made sure it was kid-friendly to share with “big sister” once I got there.
While Twizzlers candy is super easy to grab and eat on its own, I cut a couple varieties up and created a Twizzlers Candy Road Trip Snack Mix. I bought Strawberry Twizzlers candy and Strawberry Lemonade Twizzlers Twists to add color and lots of fruit flavor. I also included kid-friendly graham crackers, yogurt-covered cranberries, and dried pineapple.
- Strawberry Twizzlers candy
- Strawberry Lemonade Twizzlers Twists
- Honey graham crackers
- Yogurt-covered dried cranberries
- Dried pineapple
- With a knife, cut up Strawberry Twizzlers candy and Strawberry Lemonade Twizzlers Twists.
- Break up graham crackers into bite-size pieces.
- Add a handful of yogurt-covered dried cranberries and dried pineapple.
- Mix everything together in a bowl and divide into small containers or plastic baggies.
I packed the snack mix into a small container that fits right in my car’s cup holder. It was also perfect for sharing during outdoor playtime. So convenient! You know what else is convenient? Finding everything I needed to make this snack mix at Walmart.
Look for the Summer Fun display to find Twizzlers candy products or find them in the candy aisle. Twizzlers twists are my absolute favorite candy! I think I’ve probably tried every product Twizzlers candy releases in stores. They’re just that good! It’s an awesome thing that Twizzlers candy doesn’t melt! That makes them great for Summer road trips!
I had such a great visit spending quality time with my nieces. I snuggled with the baby and fed her a bottle or two. Big sister and I spent fun time outside chasing butterflies and blowing bubbles. The sweet ride out there was made even sweeter by my candy concoction and time spent with two of my favorite little girls.
