What's on our Food Shopping List

I have wanted to share a post like this for some time now just because I’m so intrigued by what other people shop for at the grocery store.  I am definitely that person who stands in line and checks out everyone else’s order on the conveyor belt.  So today I am giving you an inside look at my weekly grocery shopping list.

Some weeks it’s pretty scary.  My husband has an appetite for junk food and quite a sweet tooth.  Some weeks it’s totally reflected in my shopping cart.  Cookies, potato chips, ice cream – they manage to find their way into the mix of proteins, fresh veggies, and my honest attempt at eating healthy.  Thankfully, none of those sweets are very tempting to me!

Despite my efforts, I do struggle to eat balanced meals during the week because, even though I work from home, I want to utilize every minute of my day.  That doesn’t always equate to cooking up a meal chock full of healthy fats, good greens, and protein.  That’s when I turn to convenient, healthy eats like Ready Pac elevĀte salads found at Wegman’s.

So while I prepped my food shopping list for this week (which wasn’t hard since I still had a ton of stuff in the freezer), I made sure to include a couple elevĀte salads to my list. I’ve been mindful to include more veggies than grains now that we’re on the verge of Summer.  Lately, our shopping list includes protein and a whole lot of veggies!  See for yourself!

  • Chicken tenders
  • Ground beef
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Broccoli
  • Naan
  • Kale
  • Lemons
  • Cauliflower
  • Frozen stir-fry veggies
  • Beef broth
  • Chicken broth
  • Eggs
  • Hummus
  • Pizza dough
  • Red pepper, green pepper
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Elevate salads (2)
  • Bleach
  • Dish soap

Some of the things I bought were for dinner, others were for blog posts that would ultimately become lunch or dinner, and some were for quick and easy lunches, like the elevĀte salads.  They’re not only fast, portable, and convenient – they allow me to eat clean, organic ingredients whenever I want, where ever I want!

Since I’m horrible about making sure that we have enough lunch during the weekend, I bought the Organic Sunny Caesar for my husband and the Organic Southwest Salad for me.  A bed of crispy greens sits inside a convenient bowl while toppings are in their own separated compartments on top.  The dressing comes in an easy pour cup and they even include a fork to make portable nutrition even easier!  Oh, and the entire packaging is recyclable. Something I really love as I try to live an eco-friendly lifestyle, as well!

With eight salads available, there’s something for everyone.  Five out of the eight salads available are organic. Seven out of the eight are gluten-free.  Three salads include antibiotic-free chicken.  Three are vegetarian and there’s even an option for vegans.  After eating one of these salads, you’ll want to go back for more!  I totally did!
