DIY Wicked Witch Hat Halloween Wreath

September 27, 2017

Let everyone know that “the witch is in” with this easy DIY Wicked Witch Hat Halloween Wreath made with creepy details that are spooktacular for Halloween!

I was provided product samples free of charge from Oriental Trading in exchange for my honest opinion. No other compensation was provided for this post.

Ever since I was little, I’ve had a fascination with witches. While most kids were afraid of the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, my mom said I loved her.  In high school, The Craft came out in theaters and I was fascinated all over again.  I would frequent the local new age shop and buy books on Wicca and healing crystals.

So many years later, I still find witches, witchcraft, and white magic so interesting.  My healing crystal collection has been revived, I still want a black cat, and I definitely believe in magic.  If you just open your mind and look hard enough, you might find it all around you.

This year, I’ve decided that I’m going to decorate the house like a witch lives here for Halloween.  I mean, if the broom fits…right?  Every witch’s home needs a proper entrance to let her guests know that the witch is, indeed, in. That’s why I’ll be hanging this DIY witch hat wreath on my door for Halloween. Swap out your magic wand for a glue gun and head to Oriental Trading to get the rest of the supplies you’ll need for this project!

SUPPLIES

  • Witch hat
  • Orange ribbon
  • Halloween roses with eyeballs
  • Frog skeleton
  • Vinyl hanging bat
  • Scissors
  • Wire cutters
  • Hot glue gun

STEPS

  1. Heat up your glue gun and cut a piece of orange ribbon.
  2. When the glue gun is hot, create a loop with the ribbon and glue it onto the back of the witch hat.
  3. Next, start arranging the Halloween roses.  Trim the stems with wire cutters and begin gluing the roses and leave into place.
  4. Remove the elastic string from the vinyl hanging bat. Then, glue the frog skeleton and bat onto the other side of the witch hat.
  5. Get witchy with it and hang your wicked, new Halloween wreath on the front door!

On the left side of this witch hat, you’ll find some black roses.  But these aren’t just any black roses.  These wicked stems see all.  Inside each black rose is an eyeball.  Eye of newt?  No, I don’t think so.  These probably came from people who’ve made the mistake of trespassing in this magical garden!

On the right side of the witch hat, you’ll find a few creatures that could probably be found in a kitchen full of spell ingredients. We don’t really know what happened to the frog or bat (and probably don’t want to know), but here they lie in all of their creepy glory!  They’re perfect embellishments for this witch hat wreath!

Find everything you need to have a magical Halloween on Oriental Trading’s website! How will you get witchy with it this Halloween season?
