DIY Felt Car Air Fresheners

Keep your car, locker, or home smelling fresh with these easy DIY Felt Car Air Fresheners!  They’re made with felt, glue, and essential oil!

I love keeping an air freshener in my car, especially when they’re in fun shapes and scents!  I don’t have a problem with those tiny little scented trees, but I do believe your car should reflect your personality (and not just your driving skills)!  So I decided to make a few of my own car air fresheners out of felt and essential oil.  I free-handed the shapes I wanted on felt, cut them out, added some string in a loop, and glued my pieces together.

These air fresheners would make great gifts for back-to-school kids to hang in their lockers.  Just package them in a cellophane bag with a cute label and gift!  They’re also good for around the house or in the office.  I like them because they’re cheaper to make than buying a pack of air fresheners in the store and eco-friendly because you can keep refreshing them with oil!  Just make sure to add the oil right before hanging!

SUPPLIES TO MAKE AN ICE CREAM CONE

• Brown, pink, and hot pink felt
• Different color pom-poms
• Baker’s twine or clear elastic
• Hot glue gun
• Fragrance oil

STEPS

1. Cut out a cone with brown felt.  Cut two scoops of ice cream in pink and hot pink.
2. Glue your pieces together to form an ice cream cone.  Add pom-poms.
3. Cut twine or elastic long enough to hang and glue onto the back.
4. Scent your ice cream cone with oil of your choice and hang!

SUPPLIES TO MAKE A FLAMINGO

• Hot pink and orange felt
• Baker’s twine or clear elastic
• Hot glue gun
• Black marker
• Fragrance oil

STEPS

1. Draw or trace the body of a flamingo on hot pink felt.  Cut out two thin legs out of orange felt.
2. Glue your pieces together to form a flamingo.
3. Draw on an eye with black marker.
4. Glue twine or elastic onto the back.  Then, scent the flamingo with oil and hang!

SUPPLIES TO MAKE A CUPCAKE

• Brown, pink, and hot pink felt
• Red pom-pom
• Baker’s twine or clear elastic
• Hot glue gun
• Fragrance oil

STEPS

1. Draw the bottom of your cupcake onto brown felt. Then, draw a simple top of your cupcake on pink and hot pink felt.
2. Cut out shapes and glue pieces together.
3. Add a pom-pom on top.  Then, glue twine to the back.
4. Scent with oil and hang!
