This easy holiday craft uses a foam cone and fresh cranberries to create a Cranberry Christmas Tree that would make a pretty centerpiece for your Thanksgiving or Christmas table!

When do you start decorating for Christmas? Thanksgiving is the official kickoff to Christmas in our house. We usually don’t decorate for Christmas until after we’ve celebrated Thanksgiving. Of course, the anticipation starts killing me and I’ll start lugging down the boxes of decorations in between our family’s Thanksgiving celebrations. It’s my favorite part of celebrating the holiday season!
While others are spending Black Friday shopping for great deals, you can find me at home with Christmas movies on the television, setting up our Christmas tree! This year, I’ll be setting up two Christmas trees in our home! But before those come out of storage, I’ve begun adding decorations that can easily transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Like these cranberry Christmas trees!
These cranberry trees would make a pretty centerpiece for your Thanksgiving and Christmas table! They’re also a great way to use up some of those fresh cranberries from your homemade cranberry sauce or cranberry apple pie! It’s a simple holiday craft that looks so pretty all by itself or with a bow on top, surrounded by winter greenery.
How to Make a Cranberry Christmas Tree
I grabbed foam cones in two different sizes from the craft store. Using a Tuscan Red acrylic paint that I had in my craft stash, I painted the foam cones red. That way any spaces between the cranberries are camouflaged.
Once the paint dried, I started adding cranberries all around the cone, pinning them as close together as possible. They look pretty on their own, but I wanted to finish them off with a simple holiday touch!
The final touch was a mini Christmas bow on top. I had these bows on hand, but you can grab a pack of bows at the craft store or dollar store. Use the rest for other holiday crafts or tie them onto your Christmas tree. I cut the twist tie off the back of the bow and pinned it to the top of the cone. Such an easy holiday craft that looks so pretty!
SUPPLIES
- 1 – 6 inch foam cone
- 1 – 9 inch foam cone
- Tuscan Red acrylic paint
- Foam brush
- 2 – 12 oz bags fresh cranberries
- Dressmaker pins
- Mini Christmas bows
STEPS
- Paint each foam cone with red paint. Allow to dry for about an hour.
- Once the cones are completely dry, begin adding cranberries to each cone using pins. Use only firm berries and try to keep the cranberries pinned as close together as possible.
- When the entire cone is covered, add a mini Christmas bow to the top with a pin and display.
Three steps! That’s all it takes to make a beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table! You could even wrap them up in a cellophane gift bag and bring them along to your gatherings as a homemade hostess gift!
If you’re wondering how long these cranberry trees will last for, look for signs of spoiling or softening in about a week. They should stay fresh for about 7-10 days. You could also try sealing them with a clear, protective spray.
